Kent Life’s 2022 Highlights

We can’t believe it’s nearly 2023 already! This year has been a rollercoaster, from the successful launch of our Science Fair, winning a gold award for our Experience Christmas event, to celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with our ‘Darling’ Celebration before the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, 2022 will be a year we all remember.

Now let’s look back on some highlights from the wonderful year we’ve had here on the farm…

Kent Life’s Top highlights of 2022:

  • Winning Gold at The Beautiful South Awards – We were absolutely thrilled to have scooped a GOLD award for our Experience Christmas event at The Beautiful South Awards this year. The magical event was put forward for the ‘Tourism Event of the Year’ category following a silver win in 2019, wrapping up 2022 with a big smile from the team! Make sure to keep your eyes peeled in the summer of 2023 to grab tickets for this award-winning event next year!
  • Science Fair Success – New for 2022, we hosted a celebration of all things science with Kent Life’s first ever Science Fair! Igniting the budding scientist within all of us, we invited families to don their imaginary lab coats and goggles to uncover fossils, visit a ‘crime scene’, experience dry ice showers and explore our amazing astronomy dome. The fair was such a triumph we are excited to announce it will be returning next year with another BIG BANG!
  • Welcoming New friends… Oink – This year we welcomed many new friendly faces to the Kent Life team, from new staff like our Livestock Officer Joe and General Manager Rob, to Oinking friends such as Ethel and Margot. Ethel, our pedigree Middle White, joined us earlier in the year from our dear friends at Curly’s Farm and has settled in very well. Margot is our newest piglet and was named by our lovely visitors – the name Margot winning 48% of the total vote!
  • The Launch of Mr Moo’s Messy Play – We opened Mr Moo’s Messy Play area in July and it has been a great success. Made from leftover and recycled materials, our messy play area includes something for everyone with a mud kitchen, music area, water sprinkler and games zone. Though it’s more than just fun and games, did you know messy play can help to support child development in multiple ways? Check out our previous blog post here to read all about Kent Life’s top 5 mud kitchen benefits.

This year we also celebrated many birthday milestones with our furry friends. Wispa and Cookie the Alpaca’s turned 12, catching up with George the donkey who turned 13 (officially a teenager!), and tortoises Pacey-Pacey and Poley-Poley turned 15.

Come and join us at Kent Life in the New Year to experience a year full of fun, kicking off in February half term. For more information about what’s on in 2023, keep your eye on our events page here which will be updated throughout the year. We can’t wait for you to join us.
